St Giles' at six - The Auld Alliance
St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, 6pm
2012 marks the 500th anniversary of an important renewal of the Auld Alliance between Scotland and France. Those 500 years have seen huge changes in the music, religion and culture of both countries. This concert reflects the divergence and eventual re-convergence of the choral music of Scotland and France during that time, featuring works from Dufay to Duruflé.

Hauntingly beautiful choral works by 'guid and meike' Jhone Amgus, monk of Dunfermline, to mark the 450th anniversary of the Scottish Reformanio of 1560. Sung in Scots, wtih readings from Daivd Fergussion (1528 - 1598) of Dunfermline and from Elizabeth Melville, Lady Culross (d.1640)
